Reno Periodontist

Dr. James K. Burnham earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee in 1999, followed by advanced specialty training in Periodontics through The George Washington University and the Naval Postgraduate Dental School in 2007. He is experienced in both surgical and non-surgical treatment of periodontal disease, bone and soft tissue grafting, and dental implant placement. Dr. Burnham is also licensed by the State of Nevada to provide intravenous moderate sedation.

A proud veteran, Dr. Burnham served in the United States Navy for more than a decade before owning and operating a successful private periodontal practice for 14 years. He is a Board Certified Periodontist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, the highest distinction in his specialty. Over the years, he has lectured nationally and internationally on topics related to periodontal health and implant dentistry. He remains active in several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the Nevada Dental Association, and the Northern Nevada Dental Society.

Originally from Pascagoula, Mississippi, Dr. Burnham has long appreciated the natural beauty and welcoming spirit of the Reno area. He and his family are thrilled to now call it home. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, skiing, climbing, and exploring new places with his loved ones and friends. Dr. Burnham is excited to join Sierra Nevada Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, and contribute to a practice known for its excellence in patient care and its strong ties to the community.
